The Music

The music was a blend of pulled tracks and original compositions. The flying sequences in the play were very important to move us from place to place and give a bit of character to each new planet. They each used the same theme, just manipulated in different ways. Below are two examples, one for the King and one for the Lamplighter sequences

The moment where The Little Prince and The Fox say goodbye was another crucial moment in this piece that called for original composition. I created the piece below as a call and response so as they repeat after each other, the music repeats an octave higher.

The Design

As a show performed by young artists, the main goal of the design was to help support the actors in telling their story to help them believe in what they were saying. The sound design gave many opportunities for the ensemble actors to make sound effects on stage themselves while the sound system took over for transitions, underscoring, and special attention grabbing cues.

The Technology

This show was done in a rep system where I used QLab 4 for playback. I created and edited my music and sound effects with Logic Pro.
